I'll admit, I'm one of those nerds who starts planning her Halloween around October 1. I've got a stack of scary movies next to my TV just waiting for me to watch them and I might possibly have a box full of wings, masks, and Halloween makeup sitting in my closet. I'm not ashamed to admit it!
My first order of business this month was to create my spooky playlist. Since I'm avoiding music piracy (but dressing as a pirate is always on the list of possbilities) and I've resigned myself to using what's already in my on my iTunes, I might be stretching it a bit, but here's a taste of what I've got:
Motionless in White's new album, Creatures, is literally perfect for Halloween. Seriously, these guys LOVE the holiday. If you're looking for party music for All Hallow's Eve, you need to get this right now.
Here we have another Fearless band, The Word Alive. Just the fact that their album is titled Deceiver makes it perfect for the biggest costume blowout of the year. I'm contemplating dressing up as an Egyptian and calling "The Hounds of Anubis" my theme song.
City of Evil by Avenged Sevenfold will forever be on my Halloween playlist. Even when I'm an old lady. I've probably overplayed "Beast and the Harlot" and "Bat Country," but they still have serious Halloween cred. Their newest single, "Nightmare," also ranks pretty high up there on my best-Halloween-party-music-ever list.
Demon Hunter's The Triptych makes me think of gothic ballerinas. I'm on a different wavelength than the rest of the population, I know. The first two songs meld together in a way that just begs for some intrepid troupe of ballerinas to do an awesome Halloween revue. This album is amazing.
You know I'm right about this one. Don't judge me. If you haven't sang "Masquerade" to yourself on Halloween, then you suck at life.
